observer

stillness
the clarity of a pool
as worthwhile as the rock
that breaks it
and kicks at the sediment
it will be smothered by
until the water should evaporate
leaving it caked and baking
and the same rain that cleanses
refills the basin
the stone wears down
smooths
reduces
becomes the grit
laying at the bottom of the crater
the water and time conspired to carve
disseminated and deposited
collecting at the lowest point
gazing up at the stillness
the clarity of the pool
as worthwhile as the rock
that breaks it
